Trauma & Relationships
Trauma can show up in many different ways in a relationship. You might find that you're overly clingy, dependent or jealous. Alternatively, you might find that you're withdrawn, avoidant or detached. Either way, you find it difficult to connect properly with your partner, leading to hurt, loneliness and confusion. For many people, trauma occurs in their earlier years, when they did not have secure, emotional attachments with their parents. This could range from physical abuse, emotional neglect, rejection or absence. This kind of trauma is often referred to as complex trauma or CPTSD and can be treated using a range of different therapies.
